PIŠKOTKI & ZASEBNOST
The tourist destination Moravske Toplice has been writing a green story since 2019, when it joined the destinations holding the bronze sustainability label as part of the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism.
In 2022, based on the assessment of internationally accredited partner Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), it successfully obtained the Slovenia Green Destination gold label. Through sustainable operations and networking, we want to connect satisfied visitors, local residents, the tourism industry and other stakeholders, and spread green thinking.
The Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism national certification programme, under the umbrella brand SLOVENIA GREEN, combines all efforts for the sustainable development of tourism in Slovenia and, with specific tools, improves and evaluates the sustainable operations of destinations and providers.
Six basic content sections are evaluated in the scheme. The state of tourist products and services, the relationship with nature and the landscape, the environment and climate, culture and traditions, waste management, water resources and wastewater, energy management, soft mobility, and the social climate are measured and evaluated, and the operations of tourism companies, the relationship with local communities, destination management and tourism accessibility are also evaluated. The carbon footprint and the impact of climate change on tourism are also assessed, measures taken at the destination are reviewed, the satisfaction of visitors and the local population must be measured, and the characteristics of tourism company operations must be determined and measured.
As part of the scheme, tourism providers were also encouraged to carry out their operations in a sustainable way. Today, green stories are being spread by the Panonska Vas Holiday Apartment Complex, which is the first provider holding the Slovenia Green Accommodation sustainability label at the destination, and the Terme Vivat Spa as the first certified hotel at the destination that also carries the Slovenia Green Accommodation label. Hotel Livada Prestige (Terme 3000 Spa) and the Cabin Off the Beaten Path – Countryside with a Luxury Flair (Berkovci) are in the process of obtaining the Green Key green label.
