PIŠKOTKI & ZASEBNOST
It’s really exciting when you ride your bike past grassy meadows, pastures, and a herd of cows lazily observing you with curiosity.
In Moravske Toplice and its surroundings, cyclists can enjoy more than 250 km of cycling routes. This will give you a chance to be active in the rolling hills and plains of Prekmurje, which will help you realise that Prekmurje is not really so flat after all.
If you prefer hiking, head to the hills, where your hiking adventure can go on and on, as there are more than 100 kilometres of hiking trails.
Of course, your senses will also be awakened by Prekmurje’s cuisine, which can, thanks to its excellent flavours, serve a higher purpose than just eating. It’s not just food, it can also be a feeling.
The flavour of the Prekmurje layered cake (‘prekmurska gibanica’) represents an image of all of Prekmurje – a vast field of blooming poppies, the clucking of a stork, and the region’s picturesque language. Providers of culinary delights in Moravske Toplice and its immediate surroundings – from restaurants to tourist farms – can also create fantastic flavour-filled experiences combining traditional Prekmurje/Pannonian cuisine and modern cuisine.
Don’t miss dishes made from millet and buckwheat porridge, ‘zabelena gibica’ bread with cream, ‘lükova gibica’ onion bread, chanterelle goulash, ‘krapci’ pockets, cabbage-filled ‘retaš’ rolls, plum flatbread, and other interesting dishes.
The friendly staff at the Moravske Toplice Tourist Information Centre will be happy to provide you with more information about the culinary offerings.
There’s a Slovenian saying: “Če greš na Dunaj, pusti trebuh zunaj,” which roughly translates to: “Make sure to fill your stomach before going to Vienna,” referring to how expensive Vienna is. But we say – if you come to Moravske Toplice, your stomach will lack nothing, because you will enjoy a feast.
