PIŠKOTKI & ZASEBNOST
In the middle of Prekmurje, in the far north-east of Slovenia, lies the municipality of Moravske Toplice, which is geographically the largest municipality in Pomurje (145 km²); this is where the three worlds on the left bank of the Mura River meet: Ravensko, Dolinsko and Goričko.
In addition to the Moravske Toplice tourist resort, which is the centre of the municipality, there are 27 other towns and villages: Andrejci, Berkovci, Bogojina, Bukovnica, Čikečka vas/Csekefa, Filovci, Fokovci, Ivanci, Ivanjševci, Ivanovci, Kančevci, Krnci, Lončarovci, Lukačevci, Martjanci, Mlajtinci, Motvarjevci/Szentlászló, Noršinci, Pordašinci/Kisfalu, Prosenjakovci/Pártosfalva, Ratkovci, Sebeborci, Selo, Središče/Szerdahely, Suhi Vrh, Tešanovci and Vučja Gomila.
Five settlements in the municipality of Moravske Toplice are bilingual and closely intertwined with neighbouring Hungary. The inhabitants of the ethnically mixed area in the municipality of Moravske Toplice, i.e. the representatives of the Hungarian national community living in five settlements, provide the municipality with ethnic diversity. Diverse Hungarian culture, which is of interest to all visitors, is preserved by cultural and tourist societies.
The slogan of the municipality – “We are rich because we are aware of what we have” – is not a coincidence, as it is justified by the natural beauty and cultural and architectural treasures:
The municipal area of Moravske Toplice belongs to the Goričko Nature Park, which is a protected area as part of the Natura 2000 scheme.
In 1984, Moravci was renamed Moravske Toplice and became the seat of the municipality of the same name ten years later. The municipality has its own holiday on 7 September, because on this day in 1962 analysis of the Moravci water was carried out by a Swedish institute.
